April 17, 2023 is the 35th World Hemophilia Day. The theme of the event this year is “Access for All: Prevention of Bleeds as the Global Standard of Care”. The activity was launched in the outpatient hall of the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University by The Department of Hematology, aiming to promote the public to better understand hemophilia and pay attention to supporting the prevention and treatment of hemophilia.
The event was hosted and addressed by Ma Yanping, the Directorof Hematology Department.Li Jing, the Vice Director of Preventive Health Care Department,Wang Yonghong,the Vice Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Liu Fang, the Head Nurse of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, and Zhang Lin，theHead of the Second Ward of Hematology were invited to participate in the activity.Wang Yonghong introducedthe necessity of prenatal gene screening and prenatal diagnosis to the masses at the event site, and Li Jing shared the importance of early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment of diseases.Then,Chen Jianfang,the deputy chief physician, gave a lecture on hemophilia related knowledge. She mentioned the increasing emphasis on infrequent diseases in recent years, and issued a series of policy documents to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of rare diseases. The hemostatic mechanism, pathogenesis, hereditary features, bleeding symptoms and long-term consequences of hemophilia were also described. It showed that the disease was mainly based on replacement therapy, including plasma, cryoprecipitate, prothrombin complex, factor VIII and factor IX. She emphasized that all forms of preventive treatments are better than on-demand treatment.
Hemophilia is an X-linked recessive hereditary disease caused by coagulation factor deficiency. It is clinically characterized by spontaneous or mild traumatic bleeding of joints, muscles, viscera and deep tissues. Early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment of the disease are of great significance in clinical diagnosis and treatment.This theme activity improves the scientific understanding on hemophilia, and arisesthe attention of the society on hemophilia patients.As the first comprehensive tertiary hospital hemophilia management center in China, the Department of Hematology of the Second Hospital in Shanxi Medical University will unwavering maintain a high-level diagnosis and treatment model to better serve the people of Shanxi.
